Budock Parish

This Web page is to provide information about Budock Parish. It has been provided by the Online Parish Clerk (OPC) for Budock Parish. The OPC's are an initiative set up in Cornwall to help provide and co-ordinate data for people searching for their ancestors who originally came from Cornwall.

The Benefice of Budock was united with St. Gluvias c. 1310-1890. The parish of Falmouth was formed by sub-division of Budock 1663-4. Penwerris was a Chapel of Ease and made a modern parish 1848.

It is in Cornwall (see map), the county to the extreme South-West of the United Kingdom, and is near Falmouth (see map). Further information on the parish is available from many other sources, including SOSKERNOW, Friends of Cornwall, with their Budock Church page and also Genuki.

For those with more interest in the Parish of Budock, there are 2 short books (each of just over 90 pages) written by the Budock Parish History Group in 1993, entitled "A Short History of an Ancient Parish", Volumes I and II. They contain information on the changing boundaries, roads & footpaths, early history, the 1851 census, education, some of the homes and houses, and the Parish during wartime, along with many other subjects. Please get in touch with the OPC if you would like to purchase copies of the books.
